ITHACA, N.Y. — The Cornell women’s tennis team claimed its third consecutive win with a 7-0 sweep of Division III University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center. The Big Red improved to 9-3 on the season, with Rochester falling to 6-4.
The Big Red swept through all six singles matches in straight sets and surrendered just one game in doubles as Cornell sat half its lineup and played up by two or three positions throughout the lineup.
The most competitive match of the afternoon was at No. 1 singles, where Sage Loudon picked up a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Josephine Libby. No other Big Red player surrendered more than three games in completing the sweep. Loudon was one of three players to capture singles and doubles wins on the day.
Cornell will begin Ivy League play when it welcomes Columbia to Reis Tennis Center on Saturday, March 29 at 12 p.m.
