VESTAL, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women’s tennis team was back in action on Friday afternoon as the Bombers competed at Division I Binghamton University. The Bombers won two of the three doubles matches and would score a win in singles play too but fell 5-2.
The Bombers claimed the doubles point with wins in the first and third slots to gain an early 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles Taylor Crain and Alys Pop teamed and won 7-5 over the Bearcats duo. The other doubles win was secured by Madeleine Sutro and Lauren Rodriguez who defeated the Binghamton duo 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
Clara Arbeloa Lopez secured the team victory with a 6-0, 6-4 performance at third singles for Binghamton who won every singles matchup except at No. 2. Alys Pop was on the top of her game defeating Caterina Casadei 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7).
Ithaca (1-2) will have a quick turnaround as the team will host the University of Rochester in Glazer Arena in the Athletics & Events Center on Saturday at 10 a.m.
