Nathan Forrestel loves the Buffalo Bills. The 22-year-old, who was born with cerebral palsy, has been a regular at Bills camp, which is held each summer at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, and he and quarterback Josh Allen shared a viral moment earlier this summer when Forrestel offered his congrats on Allen’s recent nuptials.

But there’s one thing Forrestel loves as much (or more) than his beloved Bills — the game of golf.

After graduating from high school, Forrestel broke out of his shell a bit by becoming a golf influencer. On Instagram, he’s known as Nate the Golf Guy, and his account has more than 45,000 followers. This feature from Buffalo TV station WKBW offers more background.

On Thursday, Allen dropped a bombshell when the NFL’s reigning MVP — who is also an avid golfer — saw Forrestel again in the autograph line after the final session of training camp and made the aspiring player an offer he couldn’t refuse.

“I’ve got a question for you,” Allen started. “I’ve got two tickets to the Ryder Cup. They’re yours if you want them.”

Forrestel’s reaction was one for the ages.

The quarterback has long been a golf nut, showing up at multiple PGA Tour events (and one at Augusta National) while playing in pro ams like the one at Pebble Beach. In 2020, he even gave his offensive linemen a pretty special Christmas gift in the form of custom-fit golf clubs — Callaway Mavrik woods and irons, an Odyssey putter and an Ogio golf bag.

After the practice, Allen said he was happy to be part of the exchange.

“Obviously, it’s in New York this year. So why not have the only New York team send some of our Bills Mafia fans over there? Nate’s a great guy, he golfs a lot. He’s got a good swing, so it was a cool moment.”
