Jack Jenkins has been in and out of hospital since his recent loss at the Qudos Bank Arena.
The 31-year-old featherweight contender came into February 8 in search of his fourth victory inside the Octagon since signing with the promotion in 2022.
Following a stoppage win over Herbert Burns in his latest outing down under, the Aussie got off to a strong start in Sydney this past weekend in his prelim clash with Brazil’s Gabriel Santos which promised to deliver an entertaining bout.
The fight seemed to be going his way after he dropped Santos in the first round but the tide started to turn after the opening stanza.
Santos began to work his way back into the fight and after landing a devastating front kick to the face, he managed to take the back of Jack Jenkins and submit him in the third round to cap off the prelim card at UFC 312.

Jack Jenkins was admitted to intensive care after initially being discharged
Following his post-fight medicals, Jack Jenkins was discharged, leaving ‘Phar’ to reflect on a bad night at the office but there was still some adversity waiting just around the corner.
Australian MMA on Instagram reported that Jenkins’ team were later informed that he would need further medical attention after a key piece of information had been missed from his scan.
Jenkins reportedly suffered an injury in the first round of the fight with fractured cartilage in his thyroid cartilage leading to an air leak.

The 145-pound fighter had told his corner at the end of the opening five minutes of the bout that he couldn’t feel his left arm which significantly impacted the remainder of the fight.
After spending some time under supervision in the intensive care unit, MMA Fighting reported that Jenkins was released on Monday. The home crowd favorite is yet to post any form of statement on social media following his second defeat inside the Octagon.
Jack Jenkins showed heart and fighting spirit in Sydney
Jack Jenkins has overcome some difficult hurdles both during and after the fight which received the featured prelim spotlight on Saturday night.
Gabriel Santos may not have the most impressive record inside the Octagon but that isn’t a fair reflection of the Brazilian’s skill level.

Even with strength in only one of his arms, Jenkins did what he could to hang in there after the success he realized in the first round.
Santos was able to overcome him down the stretch but what is most important is that the Aussie fighter is seemingly past his medical worries so that he can turn his attention to recovering before getting back out there.
