CHICAGO – The University of Chicago men’s basketball team earned a decisive 89-68 win over the University of Rochester on Sunday afternoon at the Gerald Ratner Athletics Center. The Maroons put on an impressive offensive display, shooting 57.4% from the field and 90% from the free-throw line, to secure their 17th victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UChicago started strong, taking a 44-33 lead into halftime behind a well-balanced attack. Joe Berry led the charge, scoring 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including 1-of-4 from three-point range, and perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Eamonn Kenah also had a big day, finishing with 18 points, including 4-of-8 from deep, and four rebounds.
- The Maroons continued to build on their lead in the second half, outscoring Rochester 45-35. Daniel Cochran contributed 17 points and eight rebounds, while Thomas Kurowski added 12 points and six assists in the victory. UChicago’s depth was on full display, with bench players like Noah Pit and Luke Smith stepping up, scoring eight and seven points respectively, helping UChicago maintain their lead.
- The Yellowjackets struggled from beyond the arc, making just 6 of 22 three-pointers (27.3%), while UChicago found success from deep, hitting 9 of 22 (40.9%).
- With this win, UChicago improved to 17-7 on the season and 8-5 in UAA play, while Rochester dropped to 7-17 overall and 1-12 in the conference. The Maroons will look to build on this solid performance as they continue their push for the postseason.
