Head coach Kenny Dillingham has high hopes for the Arizona State football program. After making it to the college football playoff last season, the Sun Devils could be the next team in line to take advantage of the growing world of NIL and the transfer portal.

In a recent interview, Dillingham made a bold statement about the program’s potential, arguing that the Sun Devils have what it takes to become a “blue blood” in college football.

He begins by emphasizing that football powerhouses are not set in stone and that new programs can establish themselves in each era.

“Every decade there’s a team,” Dillingham said. “2000 to 2010, Oregon showed up. 2011 to 2020, Clemson showed up.”

He then moves to his perspective on Arizona State and the program’s future.

“Who’s gonna be the team from 2020-2030?” Dillingham said. “Who’s gonna be this era of team that shows up and the next generation of kids looks at them differently? I really think we can do that here.”

His comments, posted by Adam Breneman on X , sparked discussion about ASU’s potential to reach elite status.

Dillingham’s vision focuses on leveraging Arizona State’s natural advantages, including its top-tier facilities, recruiting opportunities in the Southwest, and a rapidly growing fan base.

Dillingham took over as head coach of ASU in November 2022, becoming the youngest head coach in the FBS at the time (32 years old).

Last season, in his second year as the head coach, the Sun Devils won the Big 12 conference en route to an 11-win campaign.
