ALL SCHOLASTICS GIRLS HOCKEY
DREAM TEAM
HANNAH AVENI, AUSTIN PREP
The senior goalie recorded a 0.81 goals-against average with 15 shutouts as Austin Prep advanced to the Div. 1 state final. She ended her career with a school-record 34 shutouts. The MVP of the Catholic Central League and an honor roll student, Aveni will play her college hockey at the University of Southern Maine.
ERIN FLEMING, WELLESLEY
A two-time Herald Dream Teamer, the junior defenseman played a key role in the Raiders’ successfully defending their Div. 2 state title. Fleming scored seven goals and added 14 assists for 21 points. A Shriners All-Star, Fleming spent the past three seasons in the USA National Player Development Camp.
FRANCESCA FRELICK, AUSTIN PREP
The junior defenseman helped the Cougars go undefeated in the regular season as she recorded seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points. Frelick earned her second Catholic Central League All-Star nomination. A standout softball player and an honor roll student, Frelick has verbally committed to Duke for softball.
CASSIDY GRUNING, METHUEN/TEWKSBURY
The senior left wing scored 28 goals and added 21 assists in leading her team to its first-ever Div. 1 state hockey title. A two-time DCL/MVC 1 All-Star, Gruning has 46 goals and 23 assists for her career. A member of the National Honor Society, Gruning will play her college hockey at Suffolk.
JULIA MASOTTA, METHUEN/TEWKSBURY
The senior forward had a monster season with 50 goals and 31 assists for 81 points as Methuen/Tewksbury carted home the Div. 1 state title. She’s played for the Boston Shamrocks in the past. A member of the lacrosse team and National Honor Society student, Masotta will play hockey at Norwich.
CASSI RONAN, FRANKLIN
A senior left wing/defenseman, Ronan amassed 27 goals and 16 assists in guiding the Panthers to a 17-2-3 season. Ronan competes in field hockey and has played for the U-19 Boston Junior Eagles club, winning an NAHA and state title with them. Ronan will attend Fairfield University in the fall.

EMMA BRENNAN, MATIGNON
As a senior defenseman, Brennan’s contributions on both ends of the ice lifted Matignon to a 15-6-2 record and a quarterfinal run in the Div. 2 tournament. This past season, Brennan dished out 24 assists – nearly half of her career output of 52 – while also tallying one goal. Brennan plans to attend Salem State University next fall.
DELANEY COUTURE, SHREWSBURY
An explosive right winger, Couture finished her career at Shrewsbury strong, scoring 25 goals and adding 21 assists for the Colonials. Throughout her four years, Couture saw action in 132 games and finished with 272 career points, including 186 goals. An honor roll student and former Herald Dream Teamer, Couture will continue playing ice hockey at Providence College.
SYDNEY CRESTA, MARBLEHEAD/SWAMPSCOTT
Cresta was a four-year standout, breaking the Marblehead program’s career point record with 176. Cresta joined the 100-goal club this past season, notching 26 goals and dishing out 14 assists en route to receiving Northeastern Conference co-MVP recognition. A field hockey player in the fall and softball player in the spring, Cresta plans to do a post-graduate stint at Deerfield Academy next year.
CASSANDRA DAVIS, QUINCY
A returner on the Herald All-Scholastic team, Davis built upon a solid season as a junior with another impressive campaign, leading the Patriot League in points with 52 as she tallied 38 goals and 14 assists. Davis was a league all-star all four seasons for Quincy/North Quincy, finishing her career with 125 goals and 68 assists. Davis still is undecided on where she will attend college next fall but plans to major in business.
SEAN D’URSO, ANDOVER
A two-time Herald All-Scholastic, D’Urso’s play in net helped lead Andover to a 19-3-1 record and run to the Div. 1 state semifinals. The senior proved to be dependable between the pipes, earning a spot on the MVC/DCL Large All-Star team three straight seasons to end her career, carting home MVP honors as a junior. D’Urso plans to attend the University of New England next fall.
ABBY GENDRON, MASCONOMET
Gendron finished her career in stellar fashion with 19 goals and 33 assists, setting a new program standard for points in a season while also earning co-MVP honors in the Northeastern Conference. A captain this past season, Gendron’s production increased each year as she finished with 108 points in her four years, becoming just the second player in program history to surpass the century mark.
ALEXA GRAZIANO, NOTRE DAME ACADEMY
The senior forward scored 29 goals and added 14 assists in leading her team to the Div. 2 state final. For her career, Graziano accumulated 129 points on 76 goals and 53 assists. A track athlete and member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Graziano is undecided on her future plans.
MADY HENTOSH, ST. MARY’S
A do-it-all defenseman, Hentosh played stellar in her own end and also showed some offensive prowess as she scored seven goals and handed out 17 assists. A Catholic Central League All-Star, Hentosh played in the Shriners All-Star Game. A member of the National Honor Society, Hentosh will continue her playing career at Endicott College.
ABBY HOLLAND, BRAINTREE
A junior captain for the Wamps, Holland scored 29 goals and dished 14 assists to help boost Braintree into the Div. 1 quarterfinals before losing to Austin Prep. The team’s MVP last season, Holland has scored 93 points through three seasons.
KAT KEITH, WESTWOOD
A three-time Herald All-Scholastic nominee, Keith wrapped up an impressive career at Westwood with 29 goals and 14 assists as she helped guide the Wolverines to the Div. 2 semifinals. A two-time Tri-Valley League MVP, Keith ended her career with 163 points. A member of the National Honor Society, Keith will continue playing hockey next year at Endicott.
MAIREAD KENNEDY, DUXBURY
As a senior, Kennedy anchored a defensive unit keen on limiting scoring opportunities. On the offensive end, Kennedy showed good playmaking ability with 20 assists while also scoring two goals, earning spots on both the Patriot League and Shriners all-star teams. A member of the National Honor Society, Kennedy plans on a post-graduate year at Choate Rosemary Hall.
ELLEN LINSO, BOSTON LATIN
Just a sophomore, Linso held a .963 save percentage and recorded 10 shutouts for the 15-3-4 Wolfpack, earning her DCL/MVC 2 Player of the Year honors. Linso already has 24 shutouts in her young career. She works for the school newspaper and plays softball during the spring.
MAGGIE MALLOY, CANTON
A Herald All-Scholastic in field hockey last fall, Malloy seamlessly transitioned to the ice where she scored 23 goals and handed out 16 assists on her way to being named MVP in the Hockomock League. An honor roll student, Malloy will play field hockey at Saint Anselm in the fall.
CASEY MESSINA, NORWELL
Messina put forth another SEMGHL All-Star campaign as a junior with 13 goals and 17 assists for the league champions. So far in her career, Messina has shown she is an all-around offensive threat with 44 goals and 48 assists. Messina plays field hockey in the fall and softball in the spring and also is a high honor roll student.
SAMMIE MIRASOLO, NORTH READING
Mirasolo built upon a stellar sophomore season with another strong year as a junior, scoring 23 goals and producing 12 assists for Peabody/Lynnfield/North Reading. With 98 points in three years, the Northeastern Conference All-Star already holds the program scoring record. A high honor roll student, Mirasolo plans to continue her playing career in college.
KAT PARADIS, READING
Paradis earned Middlesex League MVP after amassing 21 goals and 18 assists this past season as a senior. Paradis wraps up her career at Reading with 71 goals and 37 assists for 108 points. A member of the National Honor Society, Paradis plans on attending UMass, where she will major in nursing and play club hockey.
NICOLE RINKUS, PEMBROKE
Rinkus earned Patriot League MVP after scoring 26 goals and adding 11 assists in leading Pembroke to a 14-6-2 record and spot in the Div. 2 state tournament. A three-sport athlete, Rinkus also plays lacrosse and soccer for the Titans. Rinkus will continue her lacrosse career next year at Westfield State.
LULU ROURKE, WELLESLEY
The freshman defenseman scored 14 goals and added 14 assists in helping Wellesley cart home the Div. 2 state title. In the championship game, Rourke was credited with an assist. Rourke plays soccer in the fall and lacrosse in the spring for the Raiders.
LEXI SCHMALZ, NEEDHAM
Schmalz added to an already sterling athletic resume by collecting 27 points on 18 goals and nine assists in her senior season with Needham. The efforts of Schmaltz on the ice were key for the Rockets as they earned a place in the Div. 1 state tournament. A three-sport athlete, Schmaltz will play lacrosse at Duke in the fall.
KELSEY STEWART, NOTRE DAME ACADEMY
As a defenseman, Stewart played a critical role in the Div. 2 state tournament run of the Cougars, pairing stout defense with four goals and eight assists on the offensive end. Stewart, a junior, also is part of the track and field and field hockey teams. She is a member of the National French Honor Society as well as the Key Club.
SAMANTHA TABER, AUSTIN PREP
An eighth-grader, Taber already has solidified herself as a force in the offensive zone, scoring 29 goals this past season to take a place on the Catholic Central League All-Star team. In her first two seasons, Taber already has accumulated 69 points. She plays softball during the spring for the Cougars.
AUDRA TOSONE, WALPOLE
A senior captain, Tosone piloted the Rebels to a 19-3-1 season and a berth in the Div. 2 state semifinals. A Bay State Conference All-Star, Tosone scored 12 goals and added 12 assists for 24 points. A three-sport standout, Tosone excelled in both field hockey and lacrosse, earning All-Scholastic honors in both sports. Tosone will play lacrosse at UMass next year.
