The NFL is pushing hard to increase girls flag football participation, and that effort is working at the high school level as it is one of the fastest growing sports at the prep level.
The league is taking advantage of its huge platform during the Super Bowl tonight to run a fun two-inute ad entitled “Flag 50,” and it is pretty cool.

Flag football will be an Olympics sport in Los Angeles in 2028. And USA TODAY recently launched a Super 25 poll in the sport, and chose 30 senior flag football athletes to compete at last week’s Pro Bowl in the 2025 NFL FLAG Girls Showcase.
Mississippi recently became the 14th state to make flag football an official high school sport. The NFL is hoping to soon push that number to 50.
