ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – Around 50 football fans saw their respective NFL team’s first round selections at a watch party hosted by former Chicago Bears Fullback Jason McKie.

McKie went undrafted before spending most of his career with the Bears. He signed autographs, talked about his time in the NFL, and gave his analysis on some of the 2025 first round picks.

Most of the room was dressed in navy and orange for McKie and the Bears but there were also some Green Bay Packers fans, Dallas Cowboys fans, and even a San Francisco 49ers fan.

“They are in tune with everything going on with the Bears so it’s definitely time to get things right and give Bears fans something to cheer for,” said McKie.

With the 10th overall pick the Bears took Michigan tight end Colston Loveland, a selection that surprised some fans.

“We don’t need no tight end. We need another offensive player, that’s what they need to go after,” said Lloyd Johnson. “But we got more picks coming so we’ll see what happens.”

49ers fan MC Barton said he is optimistic about the team’s 11th overall pick, Georgia edge rusher Mykel Williams.

“I think it was a good selection, pairing him with Nick Bosa on the other side. I think our defense will be pretty good this year,” said Barton.

One Cowboys fan said she is happy with the team selecting Alabama OG Tyler Booker 12th overall.

“We hope that it will help our line and get us to the Super Bowl this year,” said Adrienne Jefferson.

It didn’t take long for Packers fans to welcome in the team’s newest selection. Green Bay took Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden 23rd overall. He was the team’s first round one WR since 2002.

“We need a wide receiver and maybe a backup quarterback with somebody that’s going to do really good,” said Packers fan Damita Taylor Dryden.

Two local guys hope to hear their names called between Friday and Sunday:

Byron native Tyler Elsbury was part of an offensive line at Iowa this season which blocked the way for the offense to rush for more than 200 yards in eight games

Freeport’s Keondre Jackson started in all but one game his senior year at Illinois State with almost 100 tackles and one interception for a touchdown.
