Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen expressed surprise after winning the NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the 2024 season.  Allen was named the league’s MVP at the NFL Honors on Thursday, despite being a second-team All-Pro selection behind Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was voted to the first team. This made Allen the first player since John Elway in 1987 to win an outright MVP award without being named a first-team All-Pro. The last time a second-team All-Pro won MVP was in 2003 when Steve McNair shared the honor with Peyton Manning.

 Allen Reacts to Winning MVP
After receiving the award, Allen acknowledged his surprise and praised Jackson’s performance during the season.

“Yeah, I was pretty surprised,” Allen admitted. “Given what we know about, typically, how the voting goes. Lamar was very deserving of this award as well. I have nothing but love and respect for him and his game.”

 MVP Voting Breakdown
The Associated Press reported that Allen secured 383 total points in the MVP voting, narrowly edging out Jackson, who received 362 points. The first-place vote split was also close, with Allen receiving 27 and Jackson earning 23.
