The Wisconsin Badgers have been busy recruiting in the 2027 class, especially at the quarterback position, as new position coach Kenny Guiton has begun to develop relationships in the rising junior class.
One of those recent offers has been Illinois quarterback Jameson Purcell, who announced that he’ll be visiting in the spring.
Purcell, who picked up his 22nd offer with Wisconsin, has seen interest from the likes of Georgia, Oregon, Miami, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and others.
Purcell is the sixth quarterback Wisconsin has offered in the 2027 class, joining four-stars Colton Nussmeier, Peter Bourque, Trae Taylor, and Trent Seaborn, as well as Georgia native Teddy Jarrard.
A couple of those offers have come in recent weeks, as Wisconsin has looked to evaluate quarterbacks in the class, while also keeping their eyes on a number of 2026 signal-callers as well.
With a change in leadership, as Kenny Guiton has moved to quarterbacks coach with Jeff Grimes being hired as the new offensive coordinator, the Badgers have seemed to shift their approach at the position.
Now, they’re valuing the dual-threat capability, as Grimes said he wouldn’t take a quarterback who couldn’t run to some degree, as well as the vertical passing game.
That has seemingly been the focus of their recent quarterback recruiting, with Purcell being the latest offer for the program at the position.
