MEAGHAN KOHLER sends another one over the net during Warren Hills High’s 25-7, 25-17 rout of Delaware Valley Oct. 13. Kohler contributed seven kills and two blocks to the triumph.

Erin Fleming totaled seven aces, six kills and a dozen digs Friday when Warren Hills High claimed a 25-23, 25-17 volleyball triumph at Roxbury. Taylor Jackson had four kills and 14 digs for the Blue 9-4 Streaks and Kendra King chipped in with four kills.

Hillsborough delivered an upset victory the previous day with a 25-18, 25-17 decision over the Streaks. The triumph was the Raiders’ seventh in 17 outings.

Leaders for the Streaks included Alexandra Kratchovil with 12 digs, Jackson (five digs, three kills) and Adetayo Sanusi (four blocks).

Beth Wall’s 14 assists and two digs helped the Streaks wallop Delaware Valley 25-7, 25-17 in an Oct. 13 contest in Washington. Other standouts against the Terriers (4-10) were Meaghan Kohler (seven kills, four digs, two blocks), Sanusi (five kills, four blocks, three aces, one dig), Kratochvil (four digs, two kills, one ace), Fleming (three aces, three kills) and Kelsey Halloran (two digs).

FIELD HOCKEY

Hannah Duffy rifled in two second-half goals Thursday to lead Warren Hills past Ridge 3-2 in Bernards Township.

Toni Popinko’s shot gave the Blue Streaks (12-2-1) an early lead before Ridge (8-6) pulled even before halftime. Duffy’s goal, assisted by Lindsey Schott, again put WHHS in front and she again scored off a Popinko feed for a 3-1 cushion. Warren Hills held a 19-4 margin in shots and goalie Sammie Rimback made two saves.

WHHS 6, Hillsborough 0 — Schott scored two goals Oct. 13 when the host Streaks, who held a 42-3 cushion in shots taken, rolled past Hillsborough (5-8-2).

Tori Popinko had a goal and two assists, Toni Popinko scored and set up another goal, Sarah Detrick and freshman Niki Miller also scored and Aimee Smith chipped in two assists. Rimback made two stops for WHHS, which led 3-0 at halftime.

FOOTBALL

The Blue Streaks were held to 163 yards Friday night while suffering their third straight loss, a 19-0 decision to Ridge in Bernards Township.

Quarterback David Lance passed for 102 yards and tailback Taylor Rush had 42 yards on the ground against the Red Devils (4-2) in the Mid-State Conference-Raritan Division clash. Warren Hills (2-4) held Ridge to just a pair of first-half field goals before the Devils added two touchdowns later in the game.

The Streaks face another tough task 7 p.m. Friday when they tackle dangerous North Hunterdon (2-3) at Warren Hills Middle School. The Lions knocked off Ridge 32-15 three weeks ago and then stunned previously-unbeaten Linden 21-14 Friday.

CROSS COUNTRY

WHHS’s boys swept an Oct. 12 quad meet, topping Bound Brook 17-43, South Hunterdon 10-42 and Sussex Tech 17-41 on the Blue Streaks’ 3.1-mile course.

Sweeping the top three spots for WHHS (3-5) were Zach Blackwood in 17:25, Anthony Cairo (17:44) and Dave Weisser. Other top-10 WHHS runners were Greg Harris (eighth), Cody Cummins (12th), Andrew Ward (16th) and Chris Greenwold (20th).

Katie Ischinger won the girls race in 21:51 to lead Warren Hills past winless Bound Brook and Sussex Tech 15-50 and South Hunterdon 20-35 the same day. The Streaks’ Anna Kerkendall was runnerup in 22:23, Katherine Kerkendall was next and other top-20 WHHS finishers were Jessica Nguyen (fifth) and Gabrielle Childers (ninth) as the Streaks raised their record to 3-5.

The Streaks had no runners among the top 30 during Thursday’s inaugural Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex Championship Meet on the snow-slickened Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta. The WHHS boys were 15th among 20 squads and the girls were 11th in the 19-team standings.

TENNIS

Siobhain Ward and Maria Karahalios battled to a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 first doubles triumph for the Blue Streaks’ lone point during a 4-1 loss to West Morris Central in Chester Oct. 14.

Playing singles for WHHS were Mena Abouelnasr (3,1), Katie Padmore (1,0) and Jamie Rosenblum (3,1) and at No. 2 doubles were Alexis Castner-Liz Graeber (1,2).

Somerville 4, WHHS 1 — Ward-Karahalios bounced back for a 0-6, 7-6 (7-5 tie-breaker), 6-2 triumph to register the Streaks’ point Oct. 13 at Somerville. Also playing for WHHS were Abouelnasr (2,1), Padmore (0,2), Rosenblum (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) and Castner-Graeber (1,3).

BOYS SOCCER

Yuri Missenheim scored for the Streaks during their 8-1 loss to Hunterdon Central Oct. 13 in Flemington. The Red Devils (9-5), who led 4-1 at halftime, finished with a 13-3 margin in shots on goal against the Streaks (4-10).

GIRLS SOCCER

Alyssa Zurlo, set up by Erin Verdon, scored first for a quick Streaks’ lead Oct. 13 before visiting Hunterdon Central took command en route to a 5-1 victory. The Red Devils (7-3-2) were in front 4-1 by halftime, with Cora Littlejohns doing all the scoring. WHHS (1-11) was out-shot 25-13.
