4-star QB recruit from Illinois Trae Taylor told me he’s down to four schools: LSU, Nebraska Texas A&M and Illinois.
On Illinois: “A hometown school, they were involved very early with me. They really never stopped showing me love and seeing they grew as a team and a university, changed the football program around around this past year. It was really impressive to me, and really said a lot to what Coach Bret Bielema and offensive coordinator Barry Lunney are doing. And not only with the team, but the quarterbacks too.”
On QB Luke Altmyer’s development (21 touchdowns and 5 picks in 2024), he added, “Last year was really the first year that I really watched Luke, and so seeing him from the season to spring ball when I was there, not too long ago, just a lot of improvement already seen through his thought process and how fast he’s moving.”
On LSU: “They’re always going to get the athletes there for quarterbacks to be successful. They they have, like the sports technology for quarterbacks to play fast.”
With LSU just coaching a Heisman winner, Jayden Daniels, “he’s had a great career, and he’s he’s already had a great start in the NFL.” LSU is coached by former Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly.
On Texas A&M: “They were fully committed to me and and they really showed it well, they came to my school twice. They pushed for me to come to Texas A&M. So we went down there twice. And really, they stayed in contact and showed why they really want me to come.”
He likes the offensive coordinator, Colin Klein, who almost won the Heisman as a player for Kansas State. “Coach Klein really is a very calm OC, and that’s always a positive thing, especially because not everything’s going to be great or perfect.”
On Nebraska: Coach Rhule is probably the most genuine head coach we’ve met. Out of all the head coaches, I probably talked to him the most. The coaching staff, they all have came straight from the NFL, so they all know what it takes to be there. They stayed the most consistent with me.”
