ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women’s tennis team hosted the University of Rochester inside Glazer Arena in the Athletics & Events Center and the Yellowjackets were able to pick up a tight 4-3 win. With the loss, the Bombers drop to 1-3 overall and Rochester improved to 3-2.
The Yellowjackets swept doubles to pick up the team point as they gained the early 1-0 lead. They then went up 2-0 after Lauren Rodriguez fell at No. 4 singles by set scores of 6-4, 6-1. No. 18 regionally ranked Taylor Crain played in a competitive match earning the 6-0 win before dropping the second set 7-6 and would come out on top winning the final set, 6-1 over Josephine Libby.
Also picking up singles wins for the Bombers were both Ava Casell-Lapetina and Alys Pop. Casell-Lapetina played in the final matchup of the afternoon against Lily Caldwell and won by scores of 6-4, 6-3. Alys Pop defeated Jasmin Toor in the No. 2 singles slot as this match went three sets (6-1, 6-7, 6-4).
Next up, the Bombers will embark on their Spring Break trip where they will compete in three matches down in Orlando, Florida at the USTA National Campus and will first take on Connecticut College on Monday, March 10 at 11:30 a.m.
