TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona Gymnastics won their Big 12 debut against Arizona State, earning a season high team score of 196.650. The Sun Devils posted a 195.725 for the day.
The GymCats earned season high team scores on three different events and four Cats put up career highs.
Uneven Bars
Arizona scored a season high team score of 49.175 on bars. Emily Mueller started the rotation with a 9.825. Two gymnasts – Abigayle Martin and Aubrey Krohnfeldt posted 9.85s to keep the momentum. Elena Deets led the Cats on bars, tying her career high of 9.90 once again this season.
Vault
The Cats moved to vault for the second rotation and scored a 49.125, another season high team score. Sophie Derr and Emma Strom earned strong 9.825s. Elizabeth LaRusso and Alysen Fears followed just behind with 9.80s. Martin contributed to the team’s season high score, adding a 9.875.
Floor Exercise
The GymCats posted a 49.075 on floor. Krohnfeldt posted a 9.800 and Martin followed with a 9.775. Strom earned a 9.90 on her strong floor routine and Mueller rounded out the rotation with a 9.875.
Balance Beam
Finishing off the meet, the Cats earned a 49.725 on beam to add another season high team score for the day. Fears began the rotation with a 9.80. Tirzah Wise and Mueller both posted back-to-back career highs on beam. Mueller put up a 9.950 and Wise earned a 9.900. Martin scored a 9.850 on beam.
