In the past week or so, UFC Seattle has lost four big fights that were a big reason why many were looking forward to the event. It’s rare in the modern days of the UFC that we get such stacked fight night cards, as much of the focus seems to be put on stacking the Pay-Per-View events and worrying less about the quality of Fight Nights, as well as putting together some downright terrible APEX events.

UFC Seattle is starting to look a lot different than it did just a few weeks ago. Due to a series of unfortunate issues, the once-stacked event is starting to lose the steam it had. It’s still pretty good quality for a UFC Fight Night, But it sucks that we will be missing out on four of the more interesting matchups. Let’s take a look at what we will be missing at UFC Seattle.

An Unfortunate Injury And Untimely Retirement For Dominick Cruz

On February 5, former UFC Champion Dominick Cruz was forced to pull out of his fight with Rob Font due to a string of shoulder injuries. Cruz said on the Anik and Florian podcast recently that he had multiple dislocations of his shoulder during the lead up to the fight with Rob Font. He knew that he was “on borrowed time, to put it quickly” and decided later that it would be best for him to retire and move on before anything more happened.

Curtis Blaydes vs Rizvan Kuniev Moved From UFC Seattle To UFC 313

On February 12, it was announced that Curtis Blaydes vs Rizvan Kuniev would no longer be taking place at UFC Seattle, but instead be shifted to a few weeks later at UFC 313 in Las Vegas. It’s unclear right now why the fight was moved, possibly it was to get another big name on the UFC 313 pay-per-view. Blaydes will be looking to get back in the win column after a loss to Tom Aspinall, and Rizvan Kuniev is making his UFC debut from Dagestan, Russia.

Edson Barboza Pulls Out Of Fight With Steve Garcia

Just this morning, it was revealed that Edson Barboza is now out of his fight with Steve Garcia. Fans were looking forward to this one, but Edson Barboza has pulled out for undisclosed reasons. It’s unclear if Steve Garcia will remain on the card and pick up a new opponent, or if they will remove him and try to rebook this fight for down the road.

Macy Chiasson Pulls Out Due To Injury

Another fight has been lost at UFC Seattle, as this is now the fourth fight in the last week to be scratched from the card. Macy Chiasson was scheduled to fight Ketlen Viera, but is out with an injury and Ketlen Viera will no longer remain on this card, as the UFC will not search for a replacement opponent.

Despite The Losses, UFC Seattle Is Still In Good Condition

UFC Seattle is still a good looking card featuring a great main event, big names, and fun fights with interesting stylistic matchups. It was much more stacked with the four previously mentioned fights that were called off, but even now the card is still one that looks to bring the heat for UFC fans.
