Alex Pereira wasn’t blown away by what Sean Strickland produced in the cage against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312.
The former UFC middleweight champion failed in his quest to reclaim his throne, last Saturday at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Australia.
Despite valiantly fighting on after breaking his nose, several MMA stars, including Khamzat Chimaev, slammed Strickland’s performance.
But what was ‘Poatan’s’ opinion of the fight?

Alex Pereira didn’t know what was going on with Sean Strickland at UFC 312
After brutally knocking Sean Strickland out back in 2022, Alex Pereira developed a close bond with his former rival, going above and beyond to help him hone his craft.
Therefore, it came as no major surprise that the light heavyweight King was in his friend’s corner for his major fight against Dricus Du Plessis.

Alas, the bout didn’t go exactly how the Brazilian would’ve liked, with the American’s head coach, Eric Nicksick, claiming that the former Glory champion was baffled by what transpired inside the cage.
In an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, the MMA aficionado explained: ”He’s [Pereira] cool man, like, he’s just intimidating.

“He was cool, like he leaned over a few times, and he’s looking at me like, what is going on with Sean? He’s cool, a lot of great insight. Love having him there.
“Lot of people thought that he flew all the way out there to corner Sean, but that was not the case. He was already there. That’s why we wanted him in the corner; he was already there. He was already a resource for us.”

Eric Nicksick was disappointed with the way Sean Strickland performed against Dricus Du Plessis
In the same interview, Nicksick also discussed his own evaluation of his student’s showing in the land down under.
While many trainers would refrain from publicly slating their own fighters in public, the Xtreme Couture head coach certainly hasn’t gone down that route.
Controversially, Nicksick has put Strickland on blast, tearing apart his ‘uninspiring’ performance.
