Sean Strickland is getting it from all angles after his latest MMA loss.

The former middleweight champion promised to fight ‘to the death’ to get his belt back, but he went into his shell after Dricus du Plessis broke his nose at UFC 312 this past weekend.

Ultimately, he slumped to a unanimous decision defeat against the 185lb king in Sydney, Australia.

Soon after, UFC analyst Din Thomas ripped Strickland for his performance, and so did fans disappointed that he didn’t deliver the all-out war he promised.

Jared Cannonier defends Sean Strickland

Jared Cannonier hopes to make one final run at the UFC middleweight title in 2025.

On Saturday night, the 40-year-old will face Brazilian contender Gregory Rodrigues at UFC Vegas 102.

In the build-up, Cannonier was asked for his thoughts on Du Plessis vs Strickland 2, which he thinks has led to unjust criticism from bloodthirsty fans.

“It sounds good, ‘to the death’, it does sound good, but Sean Strickland won’t walk into a woodchipper either,” he told MMA Today on Sirius XM.

“I mean, what do we expect out of people? He was going up against a guy who can throw hard, we’ve seen the shots he was throwing. I can hear him throwing his shots, you can feel the intent, the energy behind it. You can hear the shots landing, even though Sean was protecting himself from a lot of them, you can still see the danger in them.

“Everybody is mad at him because they want to see him walk in and either kill or be killed. F— y’all. Ya’ll ain’t paying us to do that s—. You are paying us to try and be the best fighters in the world and you’re putting us against each other.

“That’s what’s happening, you’re not paying us to go in there and hit as hard, as much as you can, and if you get hit that’s even better for us. It is because they are gonna capitalize off of that, but are you gonna capitalize off of that?

“No. So, ya’ll can kiss my a—all of those who have that sort of sentiment towards fighters. If ya’ll don’t like it, get you’re a— up, get to work, and I’ll meet you in the Octagon. We’ll see how easy it is for you guys to run yourself into a woodchipper ‘to the death!’”

Sean Strickland’s coach shares brutal UFC 312 verdict

Eric Nicksick was seen looking frustrated with Sean Strickland during the UFC 312 main event.

In the aftermath of the fight, the Xtreme Couture head coach has suggested that his working relationship with Strickland could come to an end due to his ‘uninspiring’ performance against Du Plessis.

“I think he needs to evaluate what he wants to do in the sport,” Nicksick said of Strickland.

“If it’s just to make money, then that’s great. Let us know. I wanna coach world champions. My motivations are different. Just to kind of show up and do that and not really back it up, to me, was just kind of uninspiring.

“It was just uninspired fighting to me. It just seemed like he was sleepwalking. It was tough, man,” Nicksick continued.

“To travel all the way (to Australia) — and let’s not forget, this is a title fight…I take these title fights very seriously. I was just disappointed, man.”
