Former UFC champion Sean Strickland has pondered whether he made a “mistake” in voting for Donald Trump in the U.S presidential election amid a deal for the United States to sell $8 billion-worth of arms to Israel.

According to the New York Times, the newly-incumbent Trump administration has purportedly signed an agreement following Trump’s meeting with Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House. The deal came after the U.S president vowed to “take over” and transform the Gaza Strip amid plans to turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East”.

Now, MMA middleweight colossus Strickland has revealed his misgivings about the situation, despite being open about his support for the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement in the past. The man known as “Tarzan”, recently took to social media to admit that he is questioning his allegiance to the Republican politician.

Taking to X, Strickland pointed to the situation in Israel, before saying: “Man if Trump keeps this [stuff] up I’m about to start waving a Palestinian flag.. American cities are s—holes and you wanna go spend billions on this dumpster fire.. Did we make a mistake?! This ain’t America first.”

His remarks garnered a mixed response from followers, with one person saying: “Supporting our allies is America first. I don’t agree with spending that much either, but letting our allies down will hurt us more than spending billions to help them. We can renegotiate the terms of the allegiance, but not while they’re actively in the middle of a war.”

A second individual said: “I would suggest to wait and see how this plays out. Trump says a lot of things to position himself in better negotiating positions. He is very unpredictable and it is hard to tell what he genuinely is committed to doing, and what is simply a positioning tactic. We will have to wait and see how it develops.”

As for Trump, he has been open to the idea of “buying” the Gaza Strip, as he made a series of vows about making “commitments” to the region. He said previously: “I’m committed to buying and owning Gaza.

“As far as us rebuilding it, we may give it to other states in the Middle East to build sections of it, other people may do it, through our auspices. But we’re committed to owning it, taking it, and making sure that Hamas doesn’t move back.”

The U.S. president added: “There’s nothing to move back into. The place is a demolition site. The remainder will be demolished. Everything’s demolished.”

Meanwhile, Isaac Herzog, the president of Israel, said of the prospect: “President Trump is due to meet with major, major Arab leaders, first and foremost the king of Jordan and the president of Egypt and I think also the crown prince of Saudi Arabia as well.

“These are partners that must be listened to, they must be discussed with. We have to honor their feelings as well and see how we build a plan that is sustainable for the future.”
