There’s not going to be a three-peat by the Kansas City Chiefs.
And that means no big party for … the Miami Heat? Let’s explain.
Heat President Pat Riley owns some “Three-Peat” trademarks after beginning to file for them in the late 1980s, when the Los Angeles Lakers — who he was coaching at that time — were seeking three consecutive NBA titles.
Riley struck a deal with the Chiefs on three-peat usage, but there won’t be a three-peat, much to the dismay of the Heat.
“I know he’ll bring out the best wine and hopefully have a great organizational party on behalf of the great Pat Riley,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Heat forward Kevin Love also was hoping Riley would cash in and gift the Heat some wine after a Chiefs win. Alas, no three-peat. Maybe Riles will spring for some wine anyway.
